After having to reschedule a couple of times due to the second coming of Noah here in South Louisiana over the past 6 weeks, we FINALLY were granted a beautiful, albeity, chilly day to capture some great images in celebration of Derik & Savannah’s engagement and upcoming marriage.

The locations we chose for their shoot are on my photog friend, DeAnna’s stomping grounds over in Mississippi. She was awesome enough to be our tour guide for the afternoon…it’s always so awesome to have another photog along for a shoot.

Derik & Savannah are a great couple and I am really looking forward to their wedding in December. They really are a ton of fun and I just love the way their totally different personalities mesh. Derik and I are going to be working together soon on an AWESOME project for the studio…can’t wait to share this!

Have you picked yourself off the floor yet?

What a stunner of a session. It’s been nearly a year since I had the “C Team: Caroline & Catherine” in front of  my camera and they have both grown up so much, especially, of course baby Catherine. Caroline is always an absolute joy to photograph, but Cat is going to be a little harder sell. I think I’ll grow on her. For now, acting like a total fool and little bouncing up and down in a squat position while holding my camera and trying to focus worked.

We had some absolutely gorgeous light to play with in my yard and we made the most of it. Too bad my mother-in-law mowed all my beautiful tall green grass under the walnut tree down. Oh lord. It’ll grow back in a week or so. She just couldn’t understand why I wanted that grass to be so tall! =)

Dad made his virgin appearance in front of my camera and was a great sport. He may have even had fun in spite of himself.

Looking forward to designing my first Christmas card of the year! Love you R family.

I spent the other morning with this chubby beauty of a baby, little Addison and had a great time getting to know her mom, R, and big sister, Abagail. I was so in love with several of Addison’s pictures…one of them is prominently featured in our header slideshow for our new blogsite. Did you see her and recognize her, R? I’ve already gotten oohs and aahs from her picture…it’s so big it’s almost lifesize!!!

I very nervously entered my very first print competition last week. For you non-photogs, this is kind of a big deal for so many reasons. It’s the best way in the photography world to get your feelings hurt. My work is just so very personal to me, and so it hurts when it’s critcized. Print competition judges are pretty notorious about tearing you apart. But, as any one that’s been around for awhile will say, it makes you a better photographer. You’re not “legit” until someone tells you that you suck. You are judged on technicality as well as artistry. And I just don’t really follow all those photography rules…especially that whole obeying the horizon deal. So, I was nervous. I am pretty actively working toward earning a Master Photographer accredidation, and competition is part of the deal.

So, I sent off four prints with throwup in my mouth. And I waited. And then I was estatic!!! I won!

I’m just so excited and can’t wait to receive my critiques. So without further ado….

I love all of these images with a fiery, purple passion. Thank you so much to my dear clients for sharing their beautiful children with me. I love ya’ll.

Larry Titran: Love the images!
